Filemaker test internet connection

The system may expand in the future with other login technologies, but I doubt that the built-in FileMaker file accounts will be among those. Thirdly, Claris Pro at present requires a log in with a Claris ID, which requires an internet connection, which, again, does not work well in remote situations. So instead of a small client-server production setup, Claris Pro has a testing facility. Unfortunately, with Claris Pro, it is downgraded to three connections ( one desktop, one iOS, one iPadOS ) which all have to work based on the same user ID. I am aiming to make DB applications that work in remote places without internet/mobile coverage, so this is an awesome feature ( to collect data in the field with multiple mobile devices and then upload or sync with a laptop or desktop in a field office ). This includes connections from FileMaker Go a free data-entry only version of FileMaker for iOS. If I could continue operating with a pre-19 version, that could be an option, but unfortunately Apple has moved to its own silicon and will phase out Rosetta 2 sooner or later ( I vaguely remember Tim Cook saying in 2020 that Apple will support it for two years or three years ).įileMaker Pro can function as a small server for five client-server connections, just out of the box. It was announced many year in advance, so I stopped believing it would happen, but it did. Many developers see that as a way to deliver demo’s, but for me it was a way to create software. 19, they took out the possibility to generate license-free stand-alone applications for Mac and Windows. Would this be a correct summary, or am I overlooking something? Perhaps something glaringly obvious to the 4D community, but not yet to me. With all respect for the two companies, they are only two companies, and it seems they are on-person ones, which is not a robust set to rely on for the future. All other replies referred to non-managed solutions. Last October asked a question about that and the replies can be listed as Ajar (no website?) and Telekinetix. So, I am looking for managed hosting providers who communicates in English ( or Dutch ). I would be happy to pay a company to take care of all that. I don’t have the skills either, so that means spending more time to get going on that. Call me lazy, but prefer not to spend time on installing and running a server. I am still doubting about the possibilities for hosting 4D applications. So, if I need to learn new programming skills, 4D is a good contender in all these respects.

Then on top, there is a 4D server and even a webserver. Just this for a database IDE is already quite rare. ( FileMaker, or rather Claris as the company is now called, has started making some unfortunate choices )ĤD seems to tick many boxes when it comes to database applications : runs on Win and Mac allows creation of stand-alone apps for Mac, Win, Android and iOS. Coming from FileMaker, I am looking for an alternative platform to develop database applications.
